October 2008, 7.30 p.m. [ Organ recital by Roger Fisher at the organ of Roger Fisher was Master of the Music at Chester Cathedral
from 1967-1996, and has an international reputation as one of today’s
foremost concert organists. He makes a return visit to Reid Memorial with a
programme of music by Rheinberger, Howells, Whitlock and Lemare (Symphony in
G minor). “Fisher’s evocative playing
captures Howells’ characteristics very well indeed. Hugely enjoyable.” Organists’ Review “Roger Fisher needs to be heard
more often. His technique is alluring and expansive … the organ thunders,
shouts, shimmers and glistens appropriately under Fisher's experienced hand.”
